Grafbase

Fredrik Björk, CEO at Grafbase, hired me as a product designer at Grafbase, a startup on a mission to make it easy for developers to deploy globally fast, serverless GraphQL APIs. After I worked for about 4 months on the UI/UX design of Grafbase's website and web app, during which Fredrik and developers at Grafbase would explain to me what Grafbase needs to provide to developers, and review designs and improvements I'd suggest, as well as suggest their ideas for UI/UX design solutions which I'd try out in designs and provide my feedback on and my recommendation for which design options to go with, this was the final design that was agreed to be implemented:

Grafbase built the first version of their product and website based on that design, and Fredrik raised a seed round for Grafbase after that. I left Grafbase after those 4 months because I had plans to enroll at a course, so I did not have time to dedicate to a product designer role at Grafbase. Fredrik was happy with the work I had done, as I was able to design the entire v1, from the landing page to the core features, and said that it took half the time of what he expected it would take. I also created a design system which makes it possible to have all of Grafbase UI in light and dark theme, as well as give users the ability to choose colors to make the UI match the brand of the company they work for, or simply to make it more how they like it to be — just like code editors can have multiple themes and an option to choose custom colors.
